Project Manager - Civil
Job Description:
Location: Various Project QLD, NT & NSW | Roster: 10/4 DIDO and/or Local
This is a genuine leadership role with full accountability for delivery.
If you're prepared to own outcomes, not just manage tasks, it's worth your time.
About the Role
This role is site-based. You're not running projects from a desk.
- You'll take full responsibility for delivery. Programme, cost, safety, quality and performance. It all sits with you.
- You'll lead Engineers, Supervisors and site teams, making sure the job is planned properly and delivered the way it should be. That means setting direction, making decisions and stepping in when things drift.
- You'll be across the detail but not buried in it. You'll understand where the risks are, where the job can slip and where it can improve, and you'll act on it.
- You'll deal directly with clients, manage expectations and build relationships that hold under pressure, not just when things are going well.
This isn't a perfect environment. No project ever is. You'll be expected to work through issues, not escalate everything, and keep the job moving.
If you want full ownership of delivery and the space to run a project properly, that's what this is.
What Helps (but don't stress if you don't tick every box)
- Civil Engineering degree or similar
- Strong site-based experience delivering civil projects
- Experience leading Engineers, Supervisors and project teams
- Ability to manage programme, cost and delivery without losing control of the detail
- Comfortable dealing with clients and holding relationships under pressure
- Strong understanding of contracts, variations and commercial risk
- Willingness to be site-based and move with the work (QLD / NSW)
- Someone who takes ownership rather than waiting for direction
Nice to Have (but not essential)
- Experience delivering TMR or similar civil infrastructure projects
- Background across roads, earthworks, structures or utilities
- Experience managing multiple work fronts or complex project environments
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to drive project margin
- Experience mentoring and developing Engineers into future leaders
- Exposure to planning tools and earned value / cost tracking systems
