Safety Advisors
Job Description:
About the Role
This role is site-based across multiple projects. QLD, NSW and NT.
You'll be moving between jobs, supporting teams, making sure safety isn't just written down, but actually happening on site.
You'll be working with Supervisors, Superintendents and crews. Some will get it, some won't. Your job is to influence, coach and call things out when they're not right.
You'll be across risk assessments, SWMS, investigations and reporting, but this isn't about sitting behind a laptop. You'll be out on site, talking to people, identifying issues early and making sure they're dealt with properly.
You'll support Project Managers to meet WHS requirements, but you won't be waiting for direction. You'll be expected to step in, guide the team and keep standards where they need to be.
Also there's a mentoring element. Helping teams understand not just what the rules are, but why they matter.
It's not perfect. No site is! You'll be dealing with pressure, deadlines and people who just want to get the job done. You'll need to balance that without losing the line on safety.
What Helps (but don't stress if you don't tick every box)
- Experience as a Safety Advisor in civil, construction or similar environments
- Comfortable working across multiple sites, not tied to one location
- Ability to influence Supervisors and crews, not just report on them
- Solid understanding of WHS legislation and how it applies on site
- Experience with risk assessments, SWMS and site inspections
- Comfortable dealing with incidents, investigations and follow-up actions
- Ability to communicate clearly and push back when needed
- Willingness to travel across QLD, NSW and NT
Nice to Have (but not essential)
- Cert IV or Diploma in WHS or similar
- ICAM or incident investigation experience
- First Aid / RTW Coordinator qualifications
- Experience working on civil infrastructure or large-scale projects
- Experience delivering toolbox talks or safety training
- Exposure to audits and compliance systems
